An inventory of the IT
components of all non-engineering undergraduate courses in 28 Massachusetts
state universities, colleges, and community colleges was developed in order to:
1) provide a snapshot of the state of post-secondary
IT education
2) develop a sustainable database that could serve to monitor change over time, and
3) serve as a resource for those interested in sharing
how IT is incorporated into post-secondary education state-wide.
See the summary data here.
(htm, xls see note)
This inventory included
the 28 Massachusetts state colleges; 4 University of Massachusetts colleges, 9
state colleges, and 15 community colleges. Courses were identified based on the course descriptions as
listed in the current course catalogs of each school. 1400 course were identified. We assume this to be a minimum
as there are undoubtedly many course that incorporate IT but do not include IT
components in the course catalogue description.
(Note: We invite feedback on this inventory as
to inappropriate listings and missing courses. Please e-mail comments and corrections to alan@peterfreund.com.)
By discipline the courses
covered all non-engineering disciplines.
