Faculty members associated with the Center International Education are active in development education in field settings as well as being involved in academic research and publication based on their experience.  The teaching and research activities in the International Education program are informed by the current development experience of both faculty and students. Education for Refugee Children in Uganda - Ash Hartwell

CIE faculty member Ash Hartwell spent two weeks in November 2017 working in Uganda.  Ash was asked by the USAID Mission in Uganda to represent AID on an inter-agency working group tasked with developing a plan for providing education for the massive influx of refugees from South Sudan into Uganda.

Joseph B. Berger Appointed Chair of Global Higher Education and Research

In October of 2015, Joseph B. Berger was appointed chair of the Global Higher Education & Research Global Challenge (GHEAR), an initiative of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), a global higher education and research network.

 

In May 2017 Dr. Berger chaired a two-day GHEAR workshop at UMass Amherst on Sustainable Development Goals for Higher Education.
