Paul Frisoli

Paul Frisoli is currently Senior Technical Advisor in Education at the International Rescue Committee (IRC). He is leading IRC's global work in social-emotional learning and education technology & innovation to promote children’s enrollment, retention and learning in crisis and conflict settings.

 

Paul was involved in the design, start up and currently provides technical support to education programs in IRC's Syria Response Region—Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Syria. He also supports IRC programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo and is interested in teacher well-being and motivation for primary, non-formal, and secondary education.

 

A recent project saw Paul’s team involved in a project with Sesame Street workshop to develop a “holistic early childhood learning and development program featuring the trusted Sesame Street Muppets… to reflect the experiences and to address the needs of refugee children, their parents and caregivers.”

 

Paul joined IRC as a Literacy & Numeracy Specialist after completing his doctoral dissertation on Teachers’ experiences of professional development in (post)crisis Katanga Province, Southeastern Democratic Republic of Congo: A Case Study of Teacher Learning Circles.

 

He is currently co-chair of the Teacher in Crisis Contexts Working Group (TiCCWG), a member of the Education in Conflict and Crisis Network (ECCN) Conflict Sensitive Education Knowledge Sharing Group, and is actively involved in CIES, INEE and the Teacher Motivation Working Group (TMWG).
