My passion to help the less privileged in my country has attracted me to further my studies in Masters in International Education. I believe that Education is the ladder out of poverty. I was born, raised and educated in Lilongwe, the capital city of Malawi, Africa. I graduated in 2007, with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communication. After my undergraduate studies, I joined the teaching profession where I interacted with students and reflected on different concepts and theories in Education. My experience of teaching students of different cultures and seeing the impact of education cemented my growing interest to continue with this line of work.  

 

My  work experience as a Project Coordinator at the Center for Alternatives for Victimized Women and Children (CAVWOC) where I facilitated, organized and conducted community mobilization and sensitization meetings on HIV and AIDS, Education, Women’s empowerment, Human Rights and child protection issues, turned out to be a demanding and highly gratifying experience. It provided me with exposure to major development issues in Malawi. Working with rural people in their communities at different gatherings and events fueled my passion for education. I realized that there is still a lot to be desired in most development sectors in my country.

 

All these experiences helped to shape me positively and to look at life differently. My development through the use of education literature and current research, and the application of subject knowledge with the ability to think critically motivated me to apply for graduate studies at Center for International Education.  By obtaining necessary skills and knowledge, with the help of committed Professors with vast experience,  I will be helped to achieving my goals. I always believe that “I can do all things with Christ who gives me strength”. I plan to continue working with people in rural communities, especially the marginalized groups such as women and children.
