Ash Hartwell leads CIE-ECCN team at AEWG Meeting in Budapest

In February, Ash Hartwell led the CIE-ECCN (Education in Crisis and Conflict Network) team at the recent meeting of the Accelerated Education Working Group (AEWG) in Budapest, Hungary. Ash is the M&E specialist on the AEWG support team.

At the meeting Kayla Boisvert presented (virtually) a review of the AEP Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Toolkit, now under development through a consultancy with School to School, whose CEO and founder, Mark Lynd, is a graduate of CIE.  Nina Papadopoulos, a recent CIE graduate and the Acting Head of USAID’s Basic Education Office, presented the outcomes from a highly successful AEP Worksho for ten African countries recently held in Uganda.

The AEWG works to improve the quality of Accelerated Education Programs (AEPs) by developing guidance and tools to support a more harmonized, standardized approach to accelerated education. The Center for International Education, through the ECCN Project, is represented by Ash Hartwell on the AEWG. The team at CIE has made significant contributions to the work of AEWG, including the formulation, field testing and final version of the AEP Principles.

CIE-ECCN will continue to provide a leading role in both technical and policy support for AEWG, and thereby contribute to the quality and growth of Accelerated Education to address the needs of over-age out-of-school children and youth.
