SIT students visit CIE to learn about international projects

Karla Sarr brought students from her class on the Design and Delivery of International Education to visit CIE. Thirteen students in the Master’s program at the School for International Training (SIT) in Vermont, were at UMass for the day.  After visiting the International Programs Office, they came to Montague House to discuss two CIE field projects and talk about managing funded projects.

Effective Education Program Design and Management in Crisis and Conflict Settings – A Training Course in Ethiopia

Ash Hartwell and the Education in Crisis and Conflict (ECCN) team at UMass led the design activity and helped implement a three-day course for USAID Foreign Service Officers and Foreign Service Nationals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.   The UMass group is part of the larger ECCN project managed by EDC.

CIE & Open Society Foundations - 1998 to Present

Since 1998 CIE has enjoyed a long and productive relationship with the Open Society Foundations (OSF) scholarship programs.  Over the years this relationship has brought three different groups of scholars to study at CIE. Dr, Gretchen Rossman, pictured here with Larissa Chekmareva, one of the students from Kazakhstan, has acted as the liaison faculty member with OSF throughout this period.  CIE looks forward to more OSF sponsored students in the future.

Global Horizons Workshops - 2013

The Global Horizons project at the Center for International Education strives to promote a greater awareness of the world community in Massachusetts’ K-12 schools by providing global and multicultural education curriculum resources and training to educators throughout the Western Massachusetts region. The Massachusetts Global Education consortium under the Massachusetts Department of Education has funded the project for more than a decade.
