Student found dead in room

F rancis William D'Ippolito, 19, a sophomore in Commonwealth College, was found dead March 9 in his room at Phi Sigma Kappa at 510 North Pleasant St.

His roommate found the body, and Michael Wiseman, director of Greek Affairs, described D'Ippolito's fraternity brothers as visibly shaken.

"This is a sudden, tragic loss to our community," said Jo-Anne Vanin, interim vice chancellor for Student Affairs and Campus Life. "All of us at the University extend our heartfelt condolences to Frank's family and friends."

Police reported that the state medical examiner is investigating the death but said that foul play has been ruled out. Police are waiting for a toxicology report as part of the investigation.

He leaves his parents, Francis P. and Cynthia J. D'Ippolito, and his sister, Adrienne, all of Revere, and aunts and uncles.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framing-ham 01701 or to the Arthritis Foundation of Massachusetts, 29 Crafts St., Newton 02458.
