Callahan swells alumni ranks in House

A  recent report on Amherst campus alumni serving in the Legislature omitted Rep. Jennifer M. Callahan, '91G, '01G, (D-Sutton) a freshman lawmaker from the new 18th Worcester District. She holds a master's degree in Public Health, in which she specialized in health education, and a doctorate in Educational Policy, Research and Administration.

Callahan is further tied to the University in that she is an assistant professor in the Graduate School of Nursing at UMass Worcester and previously worked for UMass Medical Center as a nurse and senior quality coordinator. She is a registered nurse and nationally certified health education specialist.

Even with the addition of Callahan, the campus's alumni delegation still numbers 21, as Joseph Sullivan of Braintree resigned his seat in the House to become executive director of the state Lottery.
