Address information on packages and freight
Distribution Services (formerly Campus Distribution
Services or CDS) requests that all packages and freight shipments
destined for campus departments include the building name and
room number that the package or freight is being delivered to
on the package labels as part of the delivery address.
It is requested that campus departments tell suppliers
that the room number and building is required each time that goods
are being ordered, because this information often does not exist
in suppliers' "ship to" databases and boiler plate documents
and therefore will not be included on packages unless it is specifically
requested.
Departments may contact Eileen Sousa at 5-3071 for
additional information regarding this request.
Office & Classroom Supplies now called Paper
Products
Paper Products is the new name for the Office &
Classroom Supplies (OCS) Department, according to Sam Welson,
senior manager of Office 2 Office. Welson said the new name more
accurately reflects the streamlined product line which includes
white and colored office papers (40 colors in all), envelopes,
computer paper, test forms and booklets.
The revised product selection at Paper Products
allows the department staff to concentrate its efforts on purchasing
and delivering office papers to campus departments in the best
and most cost effective way, while allowing departments to take
advantage of a much wider selection of office products at very
competitive prices through University and MHEC contracts.
It is recommended that to receive the best prices,
departments purchase general office supplies from Corporate Express
and computer and printer supplies such as toner cartridges from
G A Blanco. Copier paper and other products available from Paper
Products should be ordered exclusively from Paper Products because
of overall cost effectiveness to the campus and University policy.
Customers can contact Eileen Sousa at 5-3071 for
an updated Paper Products catalog and for any questions or assistance
in placing orders with Corporate Express or G A Blanco.

Postage recharge numbers to change
The recharge information that departments are required
to put on their outgoing mail will change soon because of the
University's conversion from FRS to PeopleSoft.
Currently, departments are required to put their
six-digit FRS account number on each piece of outgoing mail. Effective
July 1, the required number will be the six-digit speed type that
has been assigned by the Controller's Office, preceded by the
PeopleSoft designation for the business unit, which is "A"
for Amherst campus departments. Departments should continue to
use the current FRS account number on their mail through the end
of June, because the volume of mail makes it prohibitive to check
conversion files as the mail is processed.
It is strongly suggested that departments print
new envelopes bearing the required speed type information for
use after July 1. Having properly printed envelopes on hand will
avoid the delays and confusion that might arise if envelopes bearing
the FRS information are used after the conversion.
Printing Services urges all departments to place
orders for envelopes as soon as possible because of the anticipation
of a large volume of orders to print. The Controller's Office
has given Print Services a file of all existing FRS account numbers
with corresponding speed type numbers; therefore the required
information will be available when the order is placed. For further
information, or to place an order, call Eileen Sousa at 5-3071
or Bette Norton at 5-2719.
New session of Weight Watchers
A new, 12-week session of Weight Watchers Winning

June 24. For more information, contact Cheryl (548-9404) or Jill
(5-3321).

Feb. 18, must use their compensatory time by Tuesday, June 18.
Bunker Hill Day
Bunker Hill Day will be observed as a state holiday
on Monday, June 17. Since the campus must remain open and function
as usual on this day, employees who cannot be spared and who work
on such a holiday are entitled to another day off with pay in
lieu of the holiday.
Additionally, an employee who is not normally scheduled
to work on June 17, if the employee's usual workweek is five or
more days, is entitled to a day off with pay in lieu of the holiday.
Such days off may be taken by the employee at a time approved
by the department head within 120 days of the date of the holiday
unless other provisions exist in current collective bargaining
agreements.
