Kaffeepause
The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures is offering a Kaffeepause on Wednesday, Dec. 5 from noon-2 p.m. in the fifth floor lobby of Herter Hall. All are welcome to join in German conversation, a look a recent German television news, free coffee and snacks.

'Young Composers' concert canceled
The Department of Music and Dance's "Young Composers" concert, scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 4 in Bezanson Recital Hall, has been canceled.
Retirement reception for Pat Crosson
Dean Bailey W. Jackson and the Department of Educational Policy, Research and Administration in the School of Education invite friends and colleagues to a retirement reception for Pat Crosson, former department chair and faculty member in the School of Education and former interim vice chancellor for Academic Affairs and provost.
The reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 7 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall.

Lappas, Cahoon to speak at Weekly Sports Luncheon
Men's basketball coach Steve Lappas and hockey coach Don Cahoon are scheduled to speak at the Weekly Sports Luncheon on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at noon in 1009 Lincoln Campus Center.

Want to start an exercise program?
The Department of Exercise Science is seeking subjects for a short-term exercise training study.
Non-smoking women between the ages of 18-45 who do not exercise regularly but want to start, may qualify. Selected participants will receive a bone density scan, body fat analysis, a blood-sugar profile, fitness assessment, a week of monitored exercise training and a customized long-term exercise program.

Reserve listings for winter session and the spring semester should be submitted to the Library by Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Heating oil co-op
The Commuter Services and Housing Resource Center invites faculty and staff to join the Pioneer Valley Oil Cooperative (PVOC). Savings this year are especially good, according to CSHRC, with co-op prices currently running 8 to 14 cents less per gallon than market prices, bringing customers a savings of approximately $25 per full tank.

The American Red Cross is conducting a blood drive on Monday, Dec. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Campus Center. Check the daily schedule board for room location.
MHEC 'spring break' vendor expo set for Dec. 5-6
The Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium is sponsoring its third annual products exposition on Dec. 5-6 at the Sturbridge Host Hotel. Billed as "Spring Break 2001," the event is expected to feature 80 vendors of products ranging from furniture to lawn mowers to computers.
The first day of the expo runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a reception at 4:30.
The second day runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event is free and dress is casual.
