Wier finalist for Phi Beta Kappa inaugural award

English professor Dara Wier is among five finalists in the inaugural Phi Beta Kappa poetry award competition. Wier is being considered for her book, "Voyages in English."
The winner, who was scheduled to be announced Nov. 16, receives $10,000 and a bronze medal. All five finalists were scheduled to read from their work at the Library of Congress Nov. 15. The other finalists are Amy Gerstler, Kenneth Koch, Ann Lauterbach, and Charles North. Poet, playwright, novelist and critic John Ashbery is judging the competition.

     Nearly 200 poets entered their published works for consideration.
