Instructors in Continuing Ed. vote for GEO

raduate students who are teaching in the Division of Continuing Education this semester voted Nov. 7 to join the Graduate Employee Organization, an affiliate of the United Auto Workers Local 2322.

     The 24-0 vote in favor of joining GEO capped a two-year drive by the union and the graduate instructors to gain recognition for teachers. Only those graduate students currently teaching in Continuing Education were allowed to vote. About 300 instructors will be represented by GEO in collective bargaining.

     Last month, the Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission ruled that the instructors were eligible for membership in the union.
