Story hopeful contracts will be funded

tate Rep. Ellen Story (D-Amherst) told the Faculty Senate not to worry about funding for the faculty's contract this year but not to be surprised by an increase of as much as two-thirds in the percentage of their health premiums paid by state employees.
"From what I understand, the contract is proceeding in an orderly fashion," she said to the senate at its Nov. 1 meeting. "You should not be anxious about the contract at this point.
"Anything you can do or send to the governor, any kind of pressure that you can bring is very welcome, but from what I understand from deep in the governor's office, I think that this is going to be OK.
"One thing that I think is not
going to be OK is the ratio of health insurance premiums for state
employees." Story said the current 15 percent of their health
insurance state employees pay could increase to 20 or even 25 percent
because the state government is looking for ways to save money. |
