Panel discusses outsourcing of information technologies

The outsourcing of information technology services is the focus of a panel discussion being hosted Wednesday, Nov. 14 by the Technology Enterprise Council (TEC) and the Strategic Information Technology Center.

"Outsourcing: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" will be presented at the Mullins Center from 3-5 p.m.

According to organizers, more and more organizations are outsourcing their IT. Not only does it provide companies greater access to skilled talent, but the use of external service providers allows companies to keep up with the pace of change and effectively deploy all the latest technology. Outsourcing also provides companies with greater flexibility and accountability, while allowing them to focus on their core business. The session will feature a panel of chief information officers and IT providers who know best the strategies to embrace, the techniques for effectiveness and the pitfalls to avoid.

The session is aimed at chief executive officers, CIOs, vice presidents of technology, sales and marketing vice presidents, directors, faculty, students and other technology professionals.

Information technology users and providers are also welcome.

Registration is required. Reply by e-mail (akelly@som.umass.edu) or call 5-6308.
