edical School Chancellor Aaron Lazare, who chairs a seven-member task force reviewing the operations of the Amherst campus, will present his observations to the University community on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom.
After David K. Scott announced last December his plan to step down as chancellor, President William M. Bulger appointed Lazare in February to chair the Amherst Task Force, which was instructed to "examine past performance and help chart the campus's future course."
The task force also includes three members of the Board of Trustees, chair Grace Fey, former chair Robert Karam and Christy Mihos, along with Dart-mouth campus chancellor Jean MacCor-mack, Lowell campus provost Robert Wagner and Boston civic leader John Cullinane.
In an interview with the Chronicle in mid-February, Lazare said mapping the campus's future could contribute to the search for a new chancellor by helping the hiring committee determine what sort of person it would like to see in that role.
According to the President's Office, members of the chancellor search committee are expected to join Lazare for next week's meeting.
The 21-member search committee, chaired by Fey, has scheduled a full day of campus meetings for Oct. 10. The meetings will include various constituency groups in discussions of Lazare's presentation.
Details about the times and locations of the Oct. 10 meetings will be announced as they become available.
Chancellor search updates will be posted online (www.umassp.edu), according to the President's Office.
