The process of hiring a new Amherst campus chancellor
moved ahead this week with the naming of a 20-member search committee
by President William M. Bulger and Board of Trustees chair Grace
K. Fey, who is also leading the search panel.
FY02 budget
still up in the air
With a second, two-week interim budget set to
expire this Saturday and legislative budget negotiations continuing,
another stopgap measure is likely to fund state operations in the

Visitors Center
moves back under Student Affairs
Two years after the Visitors Center moved under
the aegis of University Advancement, the office is headed back to
Student Affairs, where it is expected to play a supporting role
for the Admissions Office, which relocated to Fraternity-Sorority
Park last summer.
Nasca headed
to Vietnam on Fulbright
Philip Nasca, chair of the Department of Biostatistics
and Epidemiology in the School of Public Health and Health Sciences,
has been awarded a Fulbright grant to teach at the Hanoi School
of Public Health from September to mid-January 2002.
Croft begins
term as chair of Computer Science Department
The Computer Science Department welcomed a new
leader last month as professor W. Bruce Croft began a three-year
term as department chair.

relationship expertise through Economic Development
New associate director of the Office of Economic
Development Michael Wright is looking to support partnerships, teamwork
and communication among businesses in the region and between those
businesses and the University.
Cournoyer
to retire from Publications
After 12 years of leading the Publications Office,
Wayne Cournoyer is retiring Aug. 3 to pursue a long list of pleasures.
Anderson to
head space management department at Yale
Elizabeth (Denis) Anderson, director of Space
Management, will become the new manager of space management and
information at Yale University, beginning Aug. 13.
