Minutewomen pursue record 25th consecutive victory

T he 23rd-ranked softball team tied the school record for consecutive wins with 24 on Monday with a 4-1 home win over Dayton. Coach Elaine Sortino's team is now 31-9 on the year and 15-0 in the Atlantic 10.

Jennifer Hadley continued to pitch well as she went the distance for her 12th win against five losses on the year.

Sophomore shortstop Emily Robustelli was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for helping the team to an 8-0 record and important three-game sweeps over A-10 foes St. Joseph's and Dayton. For the week, she was 11-for-26 (.423) at the plate with six runs scored, while seven of those 11 hits were for extra bases (six doubles, one triple). In the three-game set versus St. Joe's, Robustelli went 4-for-9, and followed that with a 5-for-10 performance against Dayton. Robustelli currently ranks second on the team and third in the Atlantic 10 in batting average (.323), and is first in the conference with 12 doubles.

The Minutewomen were scheduled to play UConn in Storrs on Wednesday.
