T hree staff members at Academic Instructional Media Services earned Finalist Awards in this year's Telly competition for outstanding non-broadcast film, video and TV programs and non-network and cable commercials.

Produced as part of the course support for the WGBY/UMass partnership, the winning programs are "Nutrition For A Healthy Lifestyle: Hydration" and "Poets of New England: Emily Dickinson Part 1."
"Nutrition For A Healthy Lifestyle: Hydration" was produced and directed by Thomas Zimnowski, coordinator of Media Production at AIMS, and edited by equipment technician Chris Golas. AIMS producer and director Betty Wilda produced, directed and edited the Emily Dickinson program.

Founded in 1980, the Telly Awards competition received 11,033 entries in 2000. Typically between 7 percent and 10 percent of the entries are awarded Winner honors and 14 to 18 percent are chosen as Finalists. The Telly judges represent a cross section of highlyqualified production professionals from ad agencies, television stations, production houses and corporate video departments across the country.

Winners in the 2000 competition included entries from clients such as Touchstone Pictures, DreamWorks SKG, Miramax Films, Lexus, Warner Bros., Dick Clark Productions,Macy's, HBO, and the Discovery Channel.

This is the second Telly Finalist award for Wilda and Zimnowski, who were cited in 1999 for "Diving in the Connecticut River." Wilda served as producer, director and editor and Zimnowski was the videographer for the program.
