Volunteer, internship information offered at Community Service Fair

The Office of Community Service Learning at Commonwealth College is sponsoring the annual Spring Community Service Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom.

More than 60 community agencies will have representatives to recruit students for various volunteer and internship opportunities. Agency missions include human services, the environment, law and advocacy, government, and arts and culture.

The event is an opportunity for faculty interested in developing a community service learning component in a course to talk with agency representatives about the kinds of experiences their students might have if they were placed in those organizations.

University employees interested in volunteering or learning about services provided by local organizations are also encouraged to attend. Students can use the fair to find out about opportunities for volunteering and for placements related to community service learning courses they are taking.

Information about post-college service opportunities such as AmeriCorps
and Peace Corps will also be available. Field Experience staff from the Campus Career Network will also be available to speak with students regarding internship opportunities.
For more information about the volunteer fair, community service learning or community service on campus, call 5-2015.
