More than 280 members of the Minuteman Marching
Band, "The Power and Class of New England," marched down
Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington Jan. 20 as part of the presidential
inaugural parade.
Iowa State post
eludes Marrett
Senior Vice Chancellor and Provost Cora B. Marrett
was passed over this week for the presidency of Iowa State University
as the state board of regents appointed the provost of the University
of Maryland to the post.
Scott receives $60k
pay hike
Chancellor David K. Scott received a $60,000
pay increase from the University this month, retroactive to July
1999. Scott's new salary is $220,000 per year.
Bulger recommends
freeze in student charges
President William M. Bulger this week recommended
to the Board of Trustees that student charges for in-state undergraduate
students remain frozen during the upcoming academic year (2001-2002).
Student killed in
South Hadley crash
Junior Peter Jekanowski, 20, of Hadley, died
as a result of injuries incurred in an automobile accident Jan.
21 in South Hadley.
500 new students
register for spring classes
Approximately 500 newly matriculated students
registered for classes during two one-day programs Jan. 9 and 10
in the Lincoln Campus Center.
Perks Cards provide
discounts to campus employees
Campus employees, including many graduate students,
recently received an extra benefit in the mail. Human Resources
distributed Perks Cards, which entitle the bearers to discounts
on specified products and services, to staff in early January.
