Pay raises set for 5 campus unions

ost campus employees will see pay increases this
month, according to Nick Marshall, Labor Relations administrator.
University Staff
Association/Massachusetts Teachers Association and American Federation
of State County and Municipal Employees (Local 1776) will receive
3 percent raises effective Jan. 7 in their Jan. 19 paychecks.
Service Employees
International Union (Local 509) Unit A members who received a rating
of satisfactory or better will see a 2.8 percent increase in their
paycheck the same day. Unit B members will see a 3 percent increase.
Massachusetts
Society of Professors members also are due for an across-the-board
increase of 2.8 percent in January.
Graduate employees
represented by the Graduate Employee Organization /United Auto Workers
Local 2322 (GEO) will see an across-the-board increase plus professional
development money retroactive to September 2000 thanks to a recent
supplementary budget bill.
"We have
every assurance that the minute the money hits UMass coffers, the
next payday the money will be in our checks," said Peter Tamas,
GEO president.
