Aging, fatigue and physical activity study

Researchers in the Muscle Physiology Lab, Department of Exercise Science, are conducting a study of aging and muscle function. Men and women between the ages of 20-35 and 65-85 years are needed. Participants must be healthy, non-smoking, and exercise less than twice per week.

Compensation up to $100 is provided. Call Ian Lanza in the Muscle Physiology Lab (5-5305) for more information.

Digital service and wide-format printing available

Photographic Services offers a variety of digital imaging services for all research, academic, marketing, Web and publication needs. Services include 35mm slides and negatives, scans to disc, large format printing (posters/banners), CD burning, image restoration, UMass stock images and photographic prints.

PowerPoint slides, PDF and EPS files can be e-mailed directly to the office (photosvr@urd.umass.edu).

Rep. Story schedules district office hours

State Rep. Ellen Story (D-Amherst) is holding office hours to discuss ideas and concerns about state government programs or legislative matters with residents of her district. The hours are as follows:

Amherst: Thursday, Nov. 30, 9:30-10:30 a.m., Bangs Community Center.
Shutesbury: Friday, Dec. 1, 10-11 a.m., town hall.

Fidelity Investments offers individual consultations

Fidelity Investments is offering individual consultations with campus employees on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in 902 Lincoln Campus Center.

Cahoon and Whipple to speak at Sports Luncheon

Hockey coach, Don "Toot" Cahoon and football coach Mark Whipple are scheduled to speak at the Weekly Sports Luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at noon in 1009 Lincoln Campus Center.

Undergraduate Catalog deadline is Dec. 1

Contributors to the 2001-02 Undergraduate Catalog should submit their revisions no later than Friday, Dec. 1 to: University Editor, University Publications, Munson Hall, 5-0123.


Grants development workshop offered

Joan Straumanis, program officer for the Fund for the Improvement of
Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE), will present a public workshop on "How to Fund Your Best Ideas" on Thursday, Nov. 30 from 2-4 p.m. in 163C Lincoln Campus Center.

Straumanis will present information relevant to people seeking research support as well as those pursuing funds for educational projects in any field. The last half-hour of the workshop will be reserved for questions specific to the FIPSE Comprehensive Program.

Art bus to NYC

The Art History Program is sponsoring a bus trip to New York City on Saturday, Dec. 2.

The bus will depart from Haigis Mall at 6:30 a.m. and arrives at the Metropolitan Museum of Art before 10 a.m. Departure from New York is 5:30 p.m. and a projected arrival in Amherst around 9 p.m.

The cost is $24 per person. Signup is in 317B Bartlett Hall.
