Fritz E. Tidlund

Fritz E. Tidlund, 85, of Amherst, a retired professional technician I in Physics and Astronomy, died Aug. 13 at home.

He served the University for 40 years before retiring in 1984.

A local coin dealer for a number of years, he was a member of the Numismatic Coin Collectors. He also belonged to the Western New England Iris Society and was known as a flower grower.

His wife, the former Mary D. Korzan, died in 1993.

He leaves a son, Thomas F., of Boston; a brother, August, of Amherst; a sister, Josephine Wilkinson, of Easthampton; and a grandson. A daughter, Sandra L. Reid, died earlier.

Peter J. Croci

Peter J. Croci, 19, of Southborough, a sophomore in the College of Food and Natural Resources, died Aug. 14 in a five-vehicle collision on the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of Paul Croci and the late Stephanie (Krumm) Croci. He leaves his parents, Paul and Doreen (Johnson) Croci, a sister, his maternal grandparents, several aunts and uncles and many cousins.

He was a 1999 graduate of Algonquin High School, where he was co-captain and pitcher for the varsity baseball team.

Helen Shay Gianetti

Helen Shay Gianetti, 91, of Amherst, a retired stenographer in Landscape Architecture, died August 15 in Northampton.

She served the University for 40 years before retiring in 1969.

She leaves her husband, Gianetto G. Gianetti; a son, Gilbert P. of Burlington, Vt.; and several nieces.
