The Board of Trustees meets Wednesday,
Aug. 2, on the Worcester campus.
Its agenda includes votes on issues related to distance learning,
the capital plan, child care policy and the naming of a new building
for the Isenberg School of Management, a $12 million project scheduled
to be under construction by the end of the year.
The 11 a.m. meeting will be preceded by the board's Committee
of the Whole meeting at 9:15, where board members will hear reports
on professional and distance learning and an update on the University's
Kuwait initiative and a proposed international environmental congress
from Paul Kostecki, research associate professor of Environmental
Health Sciences.
During a trip to Kuwait, Lebanon and Egypt in late April, board
chair Robert Karam, President William Bulger, Chancellor David
Scott, Kathleen Scott, Barbara Burn, associate provost for International
Programs, and Kostecki met with Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement
of Sciences officials to discuss, among other things, a jointly
organized international meeting on petroleum contaminated soils,
sediments and water, to take place in September 2001. The University
group also explored opportunities for collaboration with Kuwait
University.
Both meetings are scheduled for the Faculty Conference Room at
the Medical School, 55 Lake Ave. North.
