Legislature Passes Interim State Budget
With the new fiscal year due to start this weekend, lawmakers on Monday approved a $700 million interim budget to carry the state through July 15.

Repairs and Construction
Underway on Campus

Each summer brings extensive construction work to campus, and this one is no exception. Facilities Planning will complete about $5 million in repairs, renovation and construction and will start some new projects between the end of academic year 1999-2000 and the early part of 2000-2001.

Nolan Tapped as ACE Fellow
Linda Nolan, interim dean of Commonwealth College and professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, has been named a 2000-01 American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow. She is one of 34 fellows selected this year.

MSBDC Hosts Open House
at Regional Office

Close to 200 people gathered on the Springfield Technical Community College campus June 16 to look over the new offices of the western regional Massachusetts Small Business Development Center (MSBDC) Network. They also came to make connections with others in business and to hear successful entrepreneurs talk about how the regional office and other resources have helped them.

After a week of classes and cooking opportunities at Collegiate Cuisine 2000, nearly 70 food service workers from educational institutions around North America came together on 17 teams to compete for medals on June 23.
