Theodore J. Weidner, director of facilities
planning and management at Eastern Illinois University, has been
named associate vice chancellor for Facilities and Campus Services,
according to Paul Page, vice chancellor for Administration and
Finance. Weidner will assume his responsibilities June 5.
"Ted brings a wealth of facilities knowledge and experience to
the University," says Page. "His appointment brings to a close
a long search process and will greatly assist us to move ahead
under his leadership to address some of the most important issues
the campus faces."
The position was formerly held by Bill Rose, who left the University
in 1997.
Page noted that recent organizational changes within the administration
and finance area have brought all the offices involving facilities
under the supervision of the associate vice chancellor. Weidner
will oversee the Physical Plant division, Facilities Planning,
Space Management, Campus Planning, and all campus services including
Parking, Transit, Printing, Travel Management, Office and Classroom
Supplies, Campus Distribution, and Mail Services.
"I am looking forward to joining the University ... and working
to address the complex organizational and planning challenges
of a research university," says Weidner.
Weidner has served in his current position at Eastern Illinois
University since 1993. He previously held facilities positions
at Illinois State University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
He holds a Ph.D. in civil engineering, master's degrees in civil
engineering and architecture, and a bachelor's degree in building
science, all from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
