Senate Passes Rules Committee's Special Report
on the Budget
After a substantial debate at its April 13 meeting, the Faculty Senate
approved a special report of the Rules Committee that contains recommendations
to the president and Board of Trustees.

House Budget Proposes $472.4M Base for System in FY01
The House of Representative made no substantive changes to the University's
part of the state budget that its Ways and Means Committee recommended
two weeks ago. It finalized a budget April 14.

Arbor Day Celebration
Educational programs, tree plantings and arts events are planned when
the Frank A. Waugh Arboretum hosts its second annual Arbor Day celebration
on Friday, April 28.

fans crave action, so UMass Athletics has thrown away the playbook and

Benefit Fair Scheduled
for April 24
The Annual Employee Benefit Fair, jointly sponsored by the state Group
Insurance Commission (GIC) and the Division of Human Resources, is being
held Monday, April 24, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., in the Student Union Ballroom.

Beautification Committee Sponsors Planter Competition
The Campus Beautification Committee is giving students, faculty, staff
and alumni a chance to strut their horticultural stuff with its Adopt-a-Planter
project this summer.
