Scott Explains Reasons for
Proposed Budget Reductions
While budget cuts seem unthinkable during an economic boom, Chancellor
David K. Scott said last week that his proposed reductions of 1 percent
to 3 percent are a prudent step to address possible funding shortages
in the next few years.

More than 200 faculty have signed an electronic petition opposing Chancellor
David Scott's plan to cut between 1 percent and 3 percent from Academic
Affairs next year.

Reported Over Weekend
UMass Police are investigating four reported assaults, including a rape
in a dorm elevator, logged over the weekend of the Feb. 4-6.

Each year, the campus honors 10 professional and classified staff for
outstanding achievements in the workplace with the presentation of the
Chancellor's Citation Awards.
