New Vice Chancellor for University Relations
-
November 16, 2010
To the Campus Community,
I am pleased to announce the appointment of John Kennedy as our new vice chancellor for University Relations. This hire is crucial for continuing and improving our efforts to keep UMass Amherst in front of opinion leaders, especially in the Boston area.
John is a 1986 graduate of UMass Amherst who has built an outstanding career in the media and in media relations, most recently as deputy director of communications for the American Civil Liberties Union. Prior to joining the ACLU, he spent two decades at ABC News, covering domestic and international stories for "20/20," "Primetime Live," "World News Tonight" and "Good Morning America."
Our hiring of this accomplished and talented alumnus, a seasoned media expert who has operated at the highest levels of news reporting nationally, propels the university forward. John will bring both his expertise and his love for the university to this key position and we are thrilled he accepted our offer.
John's appointment is effective Dec. 27. I hope you will join me in welcoming him to campus. Go UMass!
Chancellor Robert C. Holub
