Remembering Senator Kennedy:
A Message from Chancellor Holub to the Campus Community
-
August 27, 2009
To Campus Community,
Today, as many around the world reflect on the life and accomplishments of Senator Edward Kennedy, I wanted to note here, on our campus, the passing of this great leader.
Not only was Senator Kennedy a supporter of higher education, and the value of education, he was a true champion for opportunity in all its forms. He was a passionate advocate for civil rights, his tireless efforts in support of health care reform are legendary and his skill as a legislative leader in the Senate—and his ability to hold firm on principle while still reaching consensus—will remain the standard.
While we all mourn the loss of such a great man, we can take comfort in knowing he accomplished so much, and take strength from the example that he provides: how public service matters and why it can make such a difference.
Sincerely,
Robert C. Holub
Chancellor
