Founder's Day Cookout 2010
-
April 20, 2010
On Thursday, April 29, the campus will celebrate Founder's Day. This day honors our history as a land grant institution while also celebrating our future and our continued rise as a premier research university. As part of the day's activities, the campus community is invited to Celebrate UMass, a free cookout on the Goodell lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., an event that will serve as our campus appreciation day. Our award-winning Dining Services is preparing a locally-grown "green" meal, one that uses as many local and sustainable products as possible. The Alumni Association and the Student Alumni Association are planning activities around the pond — including miniature golf — as part of Senior Week (http://www.UMassAlumni.com/students/seniors). There will be a carillon concert, followed by a performance by the student group Wicked Pitch A Cappella. Sam the Minuteman will also join the fun, and we'll celebrate the successful conclusion of the faculty and staff campaign.
While the cookout is free, all attendees are asked to register online at http://ur.umass.edu/urfounders/ to help us obtain an accurate count. It is a time for the campus community to come together to celebrate our accomplishments as we near the close of another successful academic year. Rain or shine, I hope you will join the fun as we honor the faculty, staff, and students that make UMass a great institution.
Sincerely,
Robert C. Holub
Chancellor
