Andrew Mangels

Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance

Mr. Mangels has served as the Vice Chancellor Administration & Finance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst since his appointment in August 2015.  Previously he served as the Associate Vice Chancellor of Finance and Budget Director from August 2010 to August 2015 and the Controller from July 2001 to July 2010 all at the University. 

Prior to UMass, Mangels held various positions in the controller’s office at Johns Hopkins University from 1990-2001.  Mangels was a C.P.A. with Ernst & Young from 1986-2000 performing audit functions for a variety of clients.  He holds a MBA from Johns Hopkins and a BBA from the College of William & Mary.

Mangels lives in Amherst and has three children ages 19-23.  He served as chair of the supervisory committee of the Five College Credit Union for 15 years and participates in many community events.  He enjoys many of the valley’s cultural and sporting activities.
