UMass Center for Data Science Partners with Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to Accelerate Science and Medicine

AMHERST, Mass. – Distinguished scientist and professor Andrew McCallum, director of the Center for Data Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, will lead a new partnership with the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to accelerate science and medicine. The goal of this project, called Computable Knowledge, is to create an intelligent and navigable map of scientific knowledge using a branch of artificial intelligence known as knowledge representation and reasoning.

Scandinavian Studies Receives Grant from Osher Pro Suecia Foundation

The program in Scandinavian studies has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Barbro Osher Pro Suecia Foundation for “Scandinavian Impulses” programming in 2016-17. In addition to individual cultural events, the grant will provide major support for the upcoming public symposium “Managing Multicultural Scandinavia” on March 31 and April 1.
