CCEBMS Counseling Academic Mentoring Program (C-CAMP)

C-CAMP has been considered one of the most innovative and effective components of the CCEBMS Program since its inception. Designed for first year students, it connects
upper-class students with entering first-year students to help them “settle” into the university with ease. Upper-class students are honor students and are required to enroll in a two-semester training process before becoming a peer leader, each peer leader is then assigned at least one new student.

Student meetingPeer leaders meet with their first-year students on a weekly basis to assist them with the challenges that come with being in a new environment. Students are linked together into teams in order to form a support network for study groups and social interaction. This measure enables those students lacking interaction skills a chance to feel comfortable in the university environment, which helps to facilitate a chance for success. After first-year students have become acclimated to the University environment, they are encouraged to join the mentorship team which is design to build linkages with upper-class students.

Mentors also include a number of outstanding faculty, administrators, alumni and graduate students from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
