Like sports? Need cash?
The UMass intramural staff is comprised of two full-time professionals, three program assistants, ten sport supervisors, four injury care providers, one special events assistant, and more than 100 officials. Our referees officiate sports from soccer to broomball and monitor up to 10 other activities. UMass students are the backbone of the intramural program, making up all positions other than the two professional staff. The UMass intramural sports staff works together to ensure a fun, safe and fair environment for approximately 6,000 yearly participants. Being part of the UMass intramural sports staff is very rewarding; it teaches students valuable career skills and builds unique, long-lasting relationships beyond the college experience.
Many officials and supervisors officiate high school sports in the Pioneer Valley, as well as attend tournaments at college campuses across the region. These opportunies allow student officials to continue to grow and better themselves. Each year, one official is recognized at our staff picnic as the most improved official. This individual is chosen for his/her committment to the program and effort throughout the year to become a better official. A plaque in the Recreation Center recognizes past MIOs.
