Championship Game Summary
Boom 4, Pink Tacos 2

Finalists Boom & Pink Tacos had impressive wins over their semifinal opponents Borat & the Gypsies & Brazukas, respectively. Early in the 1st half, the teams frequently traded possession at midfield. Boom had one shot on goal that was easily saved. Pink Tacos offered their own quick low shot on goal that the Boom goalie needed to save with a stunning dive. Later in the half, Boom scored on what initially looked to be a tame header by Eric Schwarz from ten yards out. But the Pink Tacos keeper let the ball slip through his fingers & legs. Pink Tacos responded by advancing the ball down the right touchline. A nifty cross set up a good shot that was chipped just wide of the net. Boom capitalized on Pink Tacos’ failure to score. Ryan McQuilkin fired a shot inside the far left post and past the keeper. Just before half, Pink Tacos got one goal back and trailed 2-1. Most of the second half was fairly even with both teams moving the ball around the midfield and spraying the net with long-range shots. Fortunes bounced for Boom again as striker Shamlan Al-Shamlan escorted the ball into the net after it took an unexpectedly high bounce over the Pink Tacos keeper’s head from a shot taken from inside Boom’s defensive end. Boom’s Eddie Miretsky added another goal for a 4-1 lead. Just before the expiration of time, Pink Tacos Jeremy Cenci scored for the 4-2 final score.
