Limp Richards & Softballs 3, Dr. Kenneth Noisewater 2

The fall fling weekend softball tournament ended the same way it started—with Limp Richards pulling away from Dr. Kenneth Noisewater for the championship. Limp Richards narrowly defeated Dr. Noisewater 3-2 in the first game of the tournament to knock Noisewater into the loser’s bracket. Dr. Noisewater won their next four games to climb back to the final. In the final of the double-elimination tournament, Limp Richards fell behind early but came back with a vengeance. Noisewater began with six straight singles, taking a 4-0 lead in the top of the 1st thanks to a 2-run single by Robert Ratzenberger. Conor Storie got it started for Richards with a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 1st bringing it to 4-2. Limp Richards made quick work of Noisewater’s next at bats and went on a tear in the bottom of the inning. Leading off in the bottom of the 2nd was pitcher Robert Basile who singled to left to get things started. Thanks to a triple from Gregory Heinz and a 2-run double from Richard Markiewiecz, Limp Richards was soon up 7-4. The damage continued with an RBI double from Seth Rosen, a Basile RBI triple and an RBI homerun from Derek Giardina. With the lineup coming around again, Basile popped a 2-run shot to put Limp Richards up 18-4 by the end of the inning. Noisewater slowly began to chip away at the Richards’ lead. With a solo shot by Jason Panagiotou and Basile giving up two walks, Noisewater had Paradise at the plate with men on first and second. A long bomb to center cleared the bases as Paradise hit a homer to pull Noisewater within striking distance at 18-8. Feeling the momentum in the bottom of the 3rd, Noisewater made quick work of Limp Richards. Dr. Noisewater continued their hot bats into the 4th thanks to RBI singles from Joel Brunelle and Ryan Nichols, capped off with a Paradise grand slam homerun to make the score 18-15. Feeling the heat, Limp Richards went on their second streak of the game in the bottom of the 4th. Led by a 2-run double from captain Matt Flight and a solo shot from Markiewicz, the Limps put a firm cushion on their 26-15 lead. Noisewater tried again to claw their way back by way of another Paradise homerun, but Limp Richards proved to be too strong in the field, making the final two outs to end the game at 26-19. Basile took the win for Limp Richards, going the distance with 2 strikeouts. For Noisewater, Paradise took the loss but had a strong game walking no one, and making a perfect 5-5 appearance at the plate, including 11 RBI, 2 homeruns and a grand slam.
