Championship Game Summary
Limp Richards and Softballs defeated The Fix is In 12-9, 13-11
This tournament pitted two teams
that had won previous spring
championships. With both teams
in the winner's bracket, Limp Richards
pulled out a 6-3 victory, forcing The Fix is In into
the early morning elimination game.
With only eight players, Fix pulled out a
13-8 victory over Team Solid. Down
two players, Fix would need to beat
Limp Richards twice for the championship.
Limp Richards showed with only
seven players! In the first game with Fix
up 2-1 in the third, Limp Richards
exploded for five runs. Fix came back in
the top of the 4th with four runs, but
Limp Richards got one in the bottom
half of the inning to lead 7-6. Two outs
from being eliminated, Fix erupted for
six runs, capped off by Matt Viglianti's
three-run homerun. The Fix Is In
forced the decisive game with a 12-9
victory.
In the rubber game, Limp
Richards got five runs in the top of the
1st. Thanks to homeruns from Nick
Moalli and Chris Hoey, Fix tied the game
at 5. After many hits, including homeruns, and baserunners for the next
three innings from both teams, Limp
Richards led 9-8. The Fix looked to
keep it a one-run game in the 5th, but
the brothers Flight -- Kevin & Matt -- hit
homeruns with runners on base and
Limp Richards led 13-8.
In the bottom
of the 5th, Dan Rimerman led off with a
bunt. Moalli singled and Travis Gross
doubled to bring in two. James Tutko
singled to bring in Gross to make it
13-11. After one out, Viglianti doubled
to put runners on second and third. Jeff
Brown lined to the third and Viglianti
was picked off on the double play. Limp
Richards pulled out the marathon win
13-11.
