Championship Game Summary
Stumblin' Drunks 11, Sigma Alpha Mu 6

Nine teams participated in the weekend double-elimination softball tournament. Sigma Alpha Mu marched to the final by defeating Drill Doctors, The Fix Is In and Avril Lateam. Stumblin’ Drunks started well with a crushing win over Jacks of All Trades, but narrowly fell to last year’s runnersup, The Fix Is In, 2-1. But wait. what often happens in the world of softball tourney competition, Stumblin’ Drunks clawed their way back through the losers’ bracket, winning four more games, to face.. Sigma Alpha Mu in the final.

Good fortunes, excellent defense and solid hitting gave Stumblin’ a first-game win over SAMMY 6-5. Could they do it again in the “real final”? Sure ‘nough, folks. Stumblin’ shocked SAMMY 11-6 to capture the championship. Overall, Stumblin’ played 8 games & 30 innings in two days! Kudos to Stumblin’ pitcher, Chris Gallucio, for pitching his arm off. For the tourney, the middle of the lineup Jay Fielding, Shaun Melle and Chris Fielding provided the offensive punch and Tim Koerner was solid at shortstop.
