Championship Summary
Web Gems 14, The Fix Is In 2

Twelve teams competed in the double elimination softball tournament. Web Gems, dubbed the "iron team o' nine lives" for playing nine games in three days and winning four of those games by one run, began the tourney with a 3-0 win over Muff Riders, then lost to Ball Busters 3-2 to drop to the loser's bracket. While advancing mightily through the loser's bracket, Web Gems met up again with Ball Busters and this time dispatched them with a narrow 6-5 win.

In the final of the loser's bracket, where the winner would play the tourney's undefeated team, Web Gems knocked off last year's tournament runner-up, Sigma Alpha Mu, with a 10-5 romp. In the championship, Web Gems met The Fix Is In, who advanced to the championship with solid wins over Bay State Bombers 15-8, Studly Jesters 15-0 and Sigma Alpha Mu 7-6.

In what would turn out to be the first of "two finals," The Fix Is In took a 10-5 lead into the bottom of the 5th and last inning. Web Gems scored 3 runs before two outs in the inning and scored 3 more runs to seal the come-from-behind 11-10 win to force another game. In the second game, it was all Web Gems. The Fix Is In plated a run in the first and last innings but couldn't stop the Web Gems from amassing 14 runs en route to the 14-2 win.
