Championship Summary
Hyptnotiq 2, Fine Piece of Ace 1

The women’s volleyball championship featured two undefeated squads, as HypnotiQ took on Fine Piece of ACE. In the playoffs, Fine Piece of ACE eliminated You Got Served & won by forfeit to advance to the final. HypnotiQ dispatched Out of the Blue & Lady Killers en route to the final. In the first game of the championship, FPOA came out strong and scored the first 9 points of the game behind the strong serving of Olivia Briggs. During her service, she had five aces and finished with nine on the day. HypnotiQ fought hard to side out, but were unable to gain any momentum. FPOA pushed the score to 11-2 before HypnotiQ strung anything together. HypnotiQ went on a 4-0 run off three unforced FPOA errors and brought the score to 11-6. However, this would be all the offense HypnotiQ would muster as FPOA went on to win the first game in commanding fashion 15-6. There was a complete role reversal in the second game as FPOA came out flat, while HypnotiQ was not ready to let their championship aspirations die. HypnotiQ stormed out to an early 4-0 lead off of two aces and two unforced errors by FPOA. FPOA regained some momentum from the first game and answered back with a 3-0 run of their own to close the gap to 4-3. The teams exchanged points in a tightly contested game and, after a few side outs and both teams unable to capitalize on the other’s mistakes, FPOA took a 7-6 lead. With the championship slipping away, HypnotiQ turned to Erin Donnally. Donnally helped her team to rally off 9 of the last 10 points in the game, with two aces and three kills, to give HypnotiQ game two 15-8. With the championship still in the balance, the teams took the court for the decisive game three. What figured to be a close game soon turned into a rout as HypnotiQ kept its momentum from the end of game two and went on a 19-5 run behind the strong play from Alice Chen to win the women’s volleyball championship 2-1 (6-15, 15-8, 20-6
