Chachi

Championship Game Summary
Chachi defeated Master Blasters 15-4, 14-16, 15-9

Both Master Blasters and Chachi needed three match victories and only one game over the minimum to enter the championship round. Master Blasters, showing great sportsmanship, declined accepting a championship forfeit, wanting to ‘win it on the floor’ instead. Game one started with Chachi jumping to a 7-1 lead using the one-two punch of Kat Hardesty and
Jason Bobowski. Bobowski scored 5 straight points to increase the lead to 12-1. Master Blasters cut the lead to 12-4 before losing game one 15-4.

Master Blasters quickly regained their composure to take a 4-1 lead in game two. Chachi was finally able to knot the score at 5-5 before Master Blasters pulled ahead 7-5. Chachi regained the lead at 10-7. Master Blasters, needing the win, capitalized on good serving to go ahead 14-10. Chachi, trying to finish the match, tied the score at 14-14. Master Blasters, however, took control with two straight points and a 16-14 game two victory.

Master Blasters continued their push by jumping out to a 3-0 game three lead. Chachi once again rallied to tie the score at 3-3. The game see-sawed back and forth with hard play on both sides of the net until David Hughes and Carolyn Fiorey of Chachi took advantage of Master Blasters’s miscues to score 5 straight points and a 15-9 championship win. Master Blasters may have tired in the finals due to their unexpected extra hour of warm-ups before the championship.
