Championship Summary
Sigma Alpha Mu defeated Bagel Makers 3-15, 15-10, 15-8

The 1997-98 men’s volleyball championship featured Bagel Makers versus Sigma Alpha Mu. When these two teams met during the regular season, Bagel Makers, 5-0, won by forfeit. Each team advanced to the final with a playoff win by forfeit.

In the first game, Dan Peck helped Bagel Makers get out to a 12-1 start with powerful serves and outstanding net play. Bagel Makers cruised in the first game 15-3. Sigma Alpha Mu rebounded in the second game with a quick 4-0 lead. Sigma Alpha Mu’s net play of Corey Zolcinski, Jason Gordon and Mitch Cohen was awesome. Bagel Makers wouldn’t quit and narrowed the score to 9-7 with solid defense from Tuan Tran and offensive performances from the Chase brothers, Adam and Mike. Sigma Alpha Mu stopped any Bagel Makers comeback and powered out a 15-10 second game win.

In the rubber game, Sigma Alpha Mu continued their strong net play and opened up a 9-2 lead. Sigma Alpha Mu’s frontliners Gordon and Cohen were too much for Bagel Makers. Sigma Alpha Mu bruised out a win and took the championship 3-15, 15-10, 15-8.
