Championship Summary
B-Y-O-B defeated Zero Vertical 17-5, 15-5

Four teams entered the 1997 Women’s Volleyball Playoffs. Undefeated in league play, Zero Vertical won-by-forfeit over Sigma Delta Tau in one semi-final. BYOB, the defending champions, defeated a strong Assassins squad 15-10, 15-9 in the second semi-final.

In game one, BYOB scored 7 points before Vertical got on the board with 2 points. Both teams exchanged points as Vertical cut into the BYOB lead. Still leading 10-7, BYOB scored the next five points to close out the game 15-7.

In game two, BYOB’s momentum carried them to a 5-0 lead. Vertical could not capitalize on their hard won sideouts. They were trailing 7-0 before a serving ace put them on the scoreboard. At 10-1, Vertical staged a mini-rally with 4 staight points. BYOB would not be denied their second consecutive title; Huong Huynh’s service ace sealed the victory 15-5.
