Men's Volleyball Fall 1996

The Masters

Championship Summary
The Masters defeated Dragons 15-11, 15-7

Eleven teams qualified for the 1996-97 Men’s Volleyball Playoffs. The final was a re-match between The Masters and the Dragons. In the last game of the regular season The Masters handed the Dragons their only loss, 15-8 and 15-4. The Dragons went on to defeat Delta Chi (15-8, 15-13) and came back on last year’s runnerups Sigma Alpha Mu (9-15, 15-11, 15-9) to reach the finals. The Masters defeated Kobra Kai (15-3, 15-13) and held off Dumber Than Nails (15-11, 15-12).

In game one, The Masters had a commanding 14-5 lead and served for the game when the Dragons took over and went on a 6 point run. The Masters stopped the bleeding and won 15-11. In game two, points were hard fought and the game was tied 3-3 for quite a while before John Supple and Jason McCollum led The Masters to a 15-7 win and the title. Chot Patsakham and Jeff Zima played key roles in the victory while Patrick Moreau and Kit Lee played gallantly for the Dragons.
