Championship Game Summary
Muff Divers 12, Ken Kaniff 7

The men's championship was a rematch of last year's final with defending champion Muff Divers taking on runner-up Ken Kaniff.  In the 1st inning, both teams went down in order, 1-2-3.  The 2nd inning belonged to Muff Divers.  Eric Frost led off with a single and that opened the floodgates.  The next eleven of thirteen batters hit singles in an explosive nine-run effort.  Jason Montes and Dan Jette each had two hits in the inning.  Facing a nine-run deficit early in the game, Ken Kaniff desperately needed runs in their turn at bat.  A leadoff single by Ted Sisk was a perfect start, but the opportunity was squandered when the next three batters failed to record a hit.

In the top of the third, Muff Divers’ Josh Levine hit a triple, but was stranded at third.  Ken Kaniff was able to get some runs back in the bottom of the frame.  Sam Firtsch, Matt Webber and Greg Alexander all scored, cutting the Muff Diver lead to 9-3.  Not to be outdone, Muff Divers looked to score some runs in the top of the 4th.  Adam Rubin led off with a single, but was forced out when Andy Weinstein hit into a fielder’s choice.  Weinstein would go on to score a run, as would Morales and Jette.  Muff Divers regained command of the game 12-3.  A leadoff double by Alex Cusco would be wasted as Ken Kaniff couldn’t find a way to get him home and trailed by nine heading into the final inning.  Muff Divers failed to score in the top of the 5th.  Ken Kaniff went into the bottom of the inning needing at least nine, but looked for more.  The first two batters reached and scored on an Andrew Callagy single.  After Callagy was forced out at second, Sisk and Cusco would go on to score runs, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the lead Muff Divers had established.  Muff Divers repeated as champion 12-7.
