Championship Game Summary
Dare Devils 9, Psychos 1

The matchup between Dare Devils and Psychos was sure to be an interesting one. Dare Devils, perennial favorite originally formed with free agents, were first to bat. With two runners on base, Amanda Prentice’s triple brought both runners home. Dare Devils made it clear that they were here to play by scoring five runs in the first inning. Psychos went three up & down in their half of the 1st. Dare Devils were kept scoreless in the 2nd helped by a Psychos doubleplay. Dare Devils’ hurler Prentice struck out two batters in the 2rd. Even though Psychos had runners on base, Lena Charron’s weak infield popout retired the side. Dare Devils broke loose with a two-out rally for four runs in the 3rd. Kim Fink got it going by reaching base on pitcher Allison Ackerman’s overthrow. Co-captain Dashira Mangual ripped a single, followed by a Lauren Torres double. Prentice then sent a blast right off the knee of Ackerman to score Mangual. Ackerman’s mound replacement gave up two hits & two walks before Psychos were able to get the third out. Psychos finally put a run on the board in their half of the 4th. Amy Claxton, who led off the inning with a walk, came around to score. Dare Devils went down in order in the 5th, and solid defense from Dare Devils shut down the Psychos’ last gasp. Dare Devils captured their third championship in four years with an impressive 9-1 win
