Championship Game Summary
Splendid Splinters 4, Valentino's 1

Splendid Splinters won seven games and stayed in the winner’s bracket all the way to take the championship in the intramural double-elimination tournament. Their opponent in the final, Valentino’s, ended up in the loser’s bracket after a 14-7 loss to Just Schillin’ in their 4th game. Valentino’s won five more games to make their way back to the final to meet Splendid Splinters. In this ‘pitcher’s duel’ of a final, Splendid Splinters was able to muster a bit more offense thanks to a three-run first inning from the meat of the lineup of Kyle Crossland, Jeremy Scheffer, Chris Anderson & Sam Griswold.   Valentino’s got one run back in the top of the 2nd when Ralph Polillio’s hit scored Steve Howell. Splinters plated another run in their half of the 2nd and led 4-1. With their runs on the board, Splinters’ hurler Sean Cummings was able to shut down Valentino’s high potent offense with steady pitching, fueled with some defensive gems in the field.  Valentino’s pitcher Tim Day was able to quiet the Splinters bats over the last 3 innings, but the runs in the 1st inning were more than enough for the Splinters as they cruised to a 4-1 victory in a well-played game.
