Championship Game Summary
Blueballers 8, Slammers 1

Good defense and timely hitting enabled the Blueballers to take control early against the Slammers. With two outs in the bottom of the 1st, 3 singles and a walk produced a run for the Blueballers thanks to Karen Stonemetz’s hit. Blueballers added to their total with runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Slammers managed only 2 hits off pitcher Laura Gillings through 3 innings thanks to fine defense.

Sara Kac drove in Kim Ryan with a 2-out single in the top of the 4th to trim the lead to 3-1. However, Blueballers put up 5 runs on 6 hits in the bottom of the 4th to take a commanding 8-1 lead heading into the final inning. Fittingly, shortstop Kristin Hockman made the final putout to seal the championship for Blueballers. In addition to her stellar defense, Hockman went 1-2 batting with an RBI and 3 runs scored. Blueballers leftielder Laura Francis also had a great game, going 3-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
