Championship Game Summary
Get The Job Done 9, Natas Stubaca 6
The Co-Rec Softball Championship game was a battle between Get The Job Done
and Natas Stubaca. Get The Job Done cracked the bats early as their first two
batters got on base with singles. Both crossed the plate on a hit by Deanna
Coffin to give them an early 2—0 lead.
It was the bottom of the third before
Natas Stubaca tied it up on a base hit by Jon Edwards and an overthrow to second.
The fourth inning began with Natas Stubaca in the field showing great
defense as Get The Job Done only brought three to the plate. In the second half
of the fourth inning, Tania Gentile and Andrew Thornton both got base hits to
put runners on first and third. With two outs Denise Breunig hit one up the gap
between second and third to bring in Gentile to take the lead 3—2.
The lead did not last long as Shawn Polk got a base hit for Get The Job
Done with one out in the top of the fifth. Ji Lee was up next and banged a
single, putting runners on first and second. Jen Sabbagh loaded the bases by
outrunning the throw to first, then Rob Labell hit a double to score all three
runners. With a couple more hits in the inning, Get The Job Done went around the
order and came up with six runs in the inning taking a 9—3 lead.
Natas Stubaca would not die as Edwards began the bottom of the fifth with a
double.
Tyler Dustman got a single to score Edwards and Thornton also got a base
hit to bring Dustman across the plate. Natas Stubaca cut into the lead to end
the inning 9—5.
Natas Stubaca played great defense preventing Get The Job Done from scoring
any more runs, but offensively they could only manage one more run in the game
coming in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Get The Job Done won the Corec Softball Championship 9—6.
